Meet Blanco!
Blanco's TNR was sponsored by a very kind individual who wishes to remain anonymous.
Here's what we know:
Blanco is an adult male that weighed in at a whopping 9.4 lbs during his vet visit. We immediately noticed that this poor guy was in rough shape after trapping him. He has several old and new wounds all over his body, but especially to his face and ears. He was suffering from an upper respiratory infection, and was given a long lasting antibiotic to help with that, on top of his vaccines and neuter. He is unfortunately wearing the scars of a cat that fought hard to get females and protect his territory. He has undoubtedly produced many offspring, because there are several white kittens and young cats in the area. We believe he is likely "the boss" of all the male cats within a multiple block radius.
Blanco is what we call "spicy" in the cat world, and required very careful handling of the trap so we didn't get snagged by his lighting fast claws. His fighting spirit has certainly earned not only the respect of the other cats in the area, but ours as well.
Fortunately for him, his wounds will heal, and he can just enjoy being a cat from here on out, and with a lot less fighting. This is all possible thanks to the compassionate individual who wanted better for him.
Thank you for sponsoring a community cat, from Blanco and all of us at GCCC!
Meet Elsie!
Elsie's TNR was sponsored by Linda Blum.
Here's what we know:
Elsie is a young female who weighed in at 5.6 lbs for her vet visit. She was sent home with a clean bill of health, however the vet did let us know that Elsie has genetic abnormality that caused her to be born with a short tail, crooked teeth, and she also has a twisted paw. Not to worry though, Elsie doesn't even notice that she's different, and she gets around just like any other cat would!
Elsie is a sweet, quiet and gentle natured cat who you can tell would really like to be friendly with people, but she's still just a little too scared.
We hope that over time Elsie will come around, and maybe even decide that being a pet isn't such a bad idea! For now though, she can just enjoy hunting without the worries of raising kittens, thanks to her amazing sponsor!
Thank you, Linda, from Elsie and all of us at GCCC!
Meet Levi!
Levi's TNR was sponsored by Sheri Harrison.
Here's what we know:
Levi is a young male kitten who weighed in at 4.4 lbs at the vet. He was sent home with a clean bill of health.
He (along with many others from his colony) has a genetic abnormality that caused him to be born with a short tail and crooked teeth. These abnormalities do not cause him any pain or discomfort, at all.
The first thing we noticed when we caught Levi in the trap was how unique he is! He is solid white, and has one green and one crystal blue eye! We definitely think Blanco is his dad.
Despite Levi's bold looks, he is a shy and reserved little guy, always making sure he checks out his surroundings before he makes a move.
Levi is set for the best life he could possibly have, all thanks to an act of kindness from someone who just wanted the best for him.
Thank you Sheri, from Levi and all of us at GCCC!
Meet Augustus Rex!
"Auggie" had his TNR sponsored by Lori Proe.
Auggie is an adult male, who weighed 8.6 lbs at his vet visit. He was sent home with a clean bill of health, but he does have lots of scars on his face from fighting. Luckily he will no longer find fighting for girls worth it, and his wounds will soon heal.
Auggie is a mellow guy, even described as a gentle giant. He did not want to be handled, but he stayed cool as a cucumber throughout the entire TNR process. He really loved the canned food he got after his neuter, and ate 3 servings!
Thanks to his caring sponsor, Auggie can focus on filling his belly and lounging around from here on out.
Thank you Lori, from Auggie and all of us at GCCC!
Meet Murphy!
Murphy's TNR was sponsored by Jill Freeman.
Murphy is a young male, less than a year old. He weighed 5.4 lbs at his vet visit, and was sent home with a clean bill of health.
Murphy is quick on his feet, so quick in fact the first time he was trapped, he managed to slip out of the trap before the door even snapped shut! Luckily he was not afraid to come back again, but the second time we were prepared, and used one of our best and fastest traps to make sure he couldn't slip out a second time.
He's very street smart, and is always aware of his surroundings. He sat in the shadows and observed everything that was going on before he approached the trap, but he just couldn't resist the smell of that canned cat food we had out for him!
Murphy is also a little "spicy" and was not a fan of being around humans. Little does he know it was only because of a caring person that he is set up for a wonderful life ahead!
Thank you Jill, from Murphy and all of us at GCCC!
Meet Boss!
Boss had his TNR sponsored by Keith Brilhart.
Boss is a juvenile male, who weighed in at 5.8 lbs for his vet visit. He was sent home with a clean bill of health from the vet.
This guy is friendly with his caretaker, who has known him since he was a kitten. He will even let her pet him, but he keeps a big distance from anyone else. He can regularly be seen hanging out with his brother, who looks identical to him, but has long hair.
Boss is very observant, calm, and quiet. He just kind of hangs out in the background, and goes with the flow.
We are hopeful that now since Boss was given the gift of TNR, he will become even more trusting of his caretaker, and move in with her!
Thank you Keith, from Boss and all of us at GCCC!
Queen Jambalaya's TNR was sponsored by Sarah Middlebrook.
Jambalaya is a mature adult female, who weighed in at 8.5 lbs for her vet visit. She is healthy, and had no major medical concerns. She was however born with genetic abnormalities, resulting in a short "bobtail" and crooked teeth. These deformities do not cause her pain, and she will go on to live a happy healthy life.
Jambalaya has been a mom multiple times, and is actually the mother of "Levi" who also had a sponsored TNR. She is very smart, and she knew we were up to something on trap day. She went in multiple traps and ate the food without stepping on the "trip plate", so the door wouldn't shut. Persistence was key, and she was finally one of the last cats we caught.
Now Jambalaya will no longer have to raise kittens, and she can just "be a cat." This is all thanks to her sponsor!
Thank you Sarah, from Queen Jambalaya and all of us at GCCC!
Meet Mr. Fuzzybritches!
Fuzzybritches TNR was Sponsored by Lori Proe.
Mr. Fuzzy britches is a young adult male, who weighed in at 6.3 lbs at his vet visit. He was given a clean bill of health, and surprisingly did not have any wounds from fighting with the other cats. Maybe his fluff protects him, or maybe he's just a more timid guy.
Fuzzybritches was a kitten produced out of a very large colony of over 30 cats. That colony was TNR'd awhile back, but this guy managed to slip through the cracks.
Luckily we got him this time!
Thank you Lori, from Mr. Fuzzybritches and all of us at GCCC!
